{"id":2376,"date":"2019-08-14T18:52:58","date_gmt":"2019-08-14T22:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/phillipsfoods.missionmedia.net\/?p=2376"},"modified":"2024-04-19T14:39:52","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T18:39:52","slug":"phillips-honors-maryland-watermens-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phillipsfoods.com\/press\/phillips-honors-maryland-watermens-association\/","title":{"rendered":"Phillips Honors Maryland Watermen&#8217;s Association"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fundraising to Protect the Heritage and Future of Commercial Watermen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Baltimore, MD<\/strong> &#8211; Phillips Seafood honored the Maryland Watermen\u2019s Association (MWA) with an $18,624 donation on April 15th, 2024 to celebrate the efforts of the MWA and their work for watermen throughout the state of Maryland. The donation is a continuation of the Phillips family&#8217;s annual financial support of the Association, raised by donating annual proceeds from the sale of Phillips\u2019s Blue Crab Margarita and 100<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary Cookbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phillips Seafood Restaurants has pledged to donate $1 from every Blue Crab Margarita sold at their Baltimore Phillips Seafood and Phillips Crab Deck locations and $5 from every 100th Anniversary Cookbook sold to support the MWA&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI come from a family of Maryland\nwatermen and have worked closely with local watermen all my life to supply\nseafood for our family\u2019s Hoopers Island processing plant and restaurants,\u201d said\nSteve Phillips. \u201cWithout them, our family business would not have grown to\nwhere it is today. We\u2019re proud to stand behind the Maryland Watermen\u2019s\nAssociation in their efforts to protect the heritage and future of our\ncommercial watermen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1973, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marylandwatermen.com\/\">Maryland Watermen\u2019s Association<\/a> has tirelessly served the interests of watermen and the seafood industry throughout the state of Maryland. They have continuously worked to ensure the future of independent watermen and seafood businesses throughout the state. That hard work has given the MWA, its staff and leadership a strong position and high visibility with State and Federal regulators, as well as environmental and business associations and
